نهر النّيل من أطول أنهار العالم، إذ يبلغ طوله نحو ٦٦٥٠ كيلومترًا. وله رافدان رئيسيّان، هما النّيل الأبيض والنّيل الأزرق، ويلتقيان في الخرطوم عاصمة السّودان. ثمّ يجري النّهر شمالًا في مصر حتّى يصبّ في البحر الأبيض المتوسّط. ويعيش أكثر المصريّين على ضفّتيه، لأنّ باقي البلاد صحراء.
